Master of Business Administration (MBA) - Manchester

Why MMUBS' MBA?

A successful track record

The Manchester Metropolitan University Business School has a long and successful track record of meeting the business and management development needs of a wide range of individuals and organisations throughout the world.

Industrial Links

MMUBS has a wide range of well developed relationships with a variety of companies with a worldwide reputation. For example there are numerous partnering initiatives with industry such as our placement programme which has seen students placed with companies such as KPMG, IBM, General Motors, GE, Mercedes Benz, HSBC Bank, Lloyds TSB, British Energy, Intel, United Utilities, Marks and Spencer, Hewlett Packard, PriceWaterhouse Coopers, BASF, British Airways, Reuters, Sony, Merrill Lynch, Xerox, Astra Zeneca, GlaxoSmithKline and many more. Most tutors on the programme have significant work experience gained with high profile organisations and this together with a strong teaching and research ethos provides a rich learning environment firmly based on the needs of modern business.

Accredited success

The MBA is now the most widely recognised general management qualification in the United Kingdom and is the only qualification recognised as truly international. There has been a significant growth in the demand by employers for professional managers to complete an MBA from an approved school. Our part-time Master of Business Administration (MBA) Programme has been established for fourteen years and our Full-time MBA is a newer addition to the portfolio. Both the Full-time and Part-time versions have accreditation from the Association of MBAs (AMBA) and our Business School regularly hosts regional AMBA Alumni events. This represents a significant quality kite mark as only about thirty of the hundred plus MBA programmes in Britain are accredited by AMBA.

Flexible pattern of study

Our part-time MBA offers managers and their employers a flexible pattern of study, ensuring minimal disruption to work schedules. In practice this means study on one late afternoon / evening per week.

Organisational benefits

The part-time MBA has been designed to benefit the organisation in which the manager works. Managers are required to explore aspects of their own organisation and its management using data collected from the organisation in which they work. Through this process participants will develop a richer understanding of a range of issues in the context of their own organisation and this will not only provide a vehicle for the manager’s individual learning but also an opportunity to critique and develop current practice. Wherever possible we will work with employers tailoring assignments, projects and dissertations to meet organisational development needs. For students pursuing the full time programme emphasis is placed on discussing real business examples and the exposure to current high profile case studies adds to the attractiveness of our students in the marketplace once they’ve completed their MBA.

Breadth of understanding

Participants on both the full time and the part time routes choose from a range of elective modules that either provide breadth to their understanding of management, or depth in the sense that they can specialise in one discipline. Again, we are happy to work with organisations in the development of specialist modules to meet their specific needs . The current programme is based around four themes considered to be central to current management practice -strategy, performance management, information management and globalisation.

Chartered Management Institute Guaranteed Membership Scheme

Enrolment on our MBA also provides students with automatic Student/Affiliate membership of the Institute and inclusion in the Chartered Management Institute’s Guaranteed Membership Scheme, whereby upon graduation from the MBA students are guaranteed full membership of the Institute without any further assessment, thereby adding yet more value to their cv. You will then be a Chartered Manager. Student/Affiliate membership affords key additional benefits to students:
